With no formal Art Education or specialized apprenticeships, Big Checho became an Underground Success in the Lowrider, Tattoo, and Art Community in San Diego, California.

Big Checho is Best- Known for his Tattoo Work specializing in Black and Grey Portraits and Realism . Starting his Career in tattooing in 1996 at the age of 18, Since then, Becoming one of the first Tattoo Artists to be recognized as the Front-Runner in Portrait and Photo-Realism Tattooing in San Diego.

Never picking up a Paint Brush until the fall of 2010, Big Checho has made an Impact on the Art Community with his paintings depicting the Violence in Tijuana, Childhood dreams of Grandeur, and the Religion of Lowriding, His Paintings have hung in Galleries in the Heart of Soho NYC, to the Hardcore Street Art Galleries in Logan Heights San Diego.

Lowriding and the Custom Car Culture

Lowriding and the Custom Car Culture has been a big part of Big Checho’s life since childhood. Being a Second Generation Lowrider, he can remember attending Car Shows and being mesmerized by the illustrious and elaborate paint jobs with beautiful murals wrapping around the bodies of Lowriders. Big Checho Started doing Body work and Paint at age 13 and worked odd jobs at various Custom Paint Shops around San Diego to learn as much as he could. Building Customs took a backseat to Tattooing but is still his first love, Big Checho started Painting again in 2005 and graced the Pages of Lowrider Magazine with a 1970 Buick Riviera Named “ Rivi Se7en Cerosâ€� Built with Robert Ceniceros and Ricardo Ceniceros who now have a Custom Paint Shop Together in South San Diego Ca.
